Establishing criteria for smart retrofitting decision-making for buildings

چکیده

Abstract Buildings are among the largest sources of carbon emissions, so their owners have been compelled to set stringent sustainability goals in response global call for neutrality. Consequently, facility managers pressed make buildings smarter through adopting greater value-for-money solutions. Besides implementation traditional energy-saving measures, retrofitting with smart building (SB) features, known as ‘smart retrofitting’ (SR), has become a growing trend. However, there is still no appropriate criteria making decisions on SR. To fill this void, study was undertaken, where four-tier hierarchical framework SR decision-making established after thorough literature search Web Science database followed by an in-depth qualitative review and focus group discussion. A total 32 were identified, which fall into five categories: (1) Financial; (2) Technical; (3) Human; (4) Environmental; (5) Legal, safety, security. key finding that it not merely post-retrofit performance but also process itself plays important part decision-making. The identified demonstrate ‘smartness’ encompasses only ‘energy efficiency’ vast array other technical social factors. broad scope portrayed criteria, needs be considered holistically, provides guidance decisions. Future works refining outlined.

INTUITIONISTIC FUZZY DIMENSIONAL ANALYSIS FOR MULTI-CRITERIA DECISION MAKING

Dimensional analysis, for multi-criteria decision making, is a mathematical method that includes diverse heterogeneous criteria into a single dimensionless index. Dimensional Analysis, in its current definition, presents the drawback to manipulate fuzzy information commonly presented in a multi-criteria decision making problem. To overcome such limitation, we propose two dimensional analysis ba...

Multi Criteria Decision Making Tool for the Selection of Seismic Retrofitting Techniques

Upgrading existing buildings to meet current seismic design codes is important in high seismic hazard regions. Decision makers must choose from many possible retrofitting options, each with inherent advantages and disadvantages. The two main decision drivers that are commonly used are: increasing engineering performance (ductility, strength, etc.) and reducing cost. There is currently little in...

Multi-criteria Decision Making for Seismic Retrofitting of an Underdesigned Rc Structure

Seismic retrofitting of under-designed structures is a consolidated approach to risk management. Several options are available for the achievement of the vulnerability reduction goals, each of those having peculiar performances in respect of different technical and non-structural criteria. Selection of the best solution is a non-trivial task, because criteria may conflict each other. MultiCrite...

Comparative Analysis of Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Methods for Seismic Structural Retrofitting

The selection of a strategy to seismically upgrade an existing building is a difficult problem. In fact, several different technologies are available to this aim nowadays. Furthermore, many generally conflicting options have to be considered to assess the performance of each alternative. Decision support systems like the socalled multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods may be useful in ma...

Investigating Efficiency of Shotcrete for Retrofitting Masonry Buildings

One of a feasible and efficient method to retrofit structures is spraying shotcrete which is widely applied around the world. Shotcrete is concrete with fine aggregates which are sprayed through a hose and by air pressure coat at high velocity onto a surface. In the current research, three masonry schools from different regions of Iran are selected. The retrofitted wall surfaces have been prepa...
